New Gen, Datuk Ling Lu Kiong, 42, is also Group MD of Shin Yang Holding Group

FYE 30 JUNE 2023, SYG'S REVENUE WAS RM939.6 MILLION, AFTER TAX PROFIT WAS RM182.6 MILLION

Sibu born Tan Sri Datuk Ling Chiong Ho, ventured into the domestic shipping business at the age of 31 together with his brothers. He also ventured into construction and built some landmark bridges, hotels and malls in Sarawak. Today, he has a diversified group under listed Shin Yang Group Berhad (SYG) formerly known as Shin Yang Shipping Corporation Berhad. On 4 July 2023, the change in corporate identity took place. While building and repairing ships remain a key segment, SYG going forward will venture into other activities.
On 11 July 2024 SYG acquired the Ling family's Toyota and Lexus dealership business in East Malaysia for RM144.5 million. For FYE 30 June 2023, SYG reported revenue of RM939.6 million and after tax profit of RM182.6 million.

The Ling family also controls listed Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP) which achieved revenue of RM5.12 billion and pre-tax profit of RM420.72 million for FYE 31 Dec 2023. While Tan Sri Ling is Group Executive Chairman of SYG, his eldest son, Ling Lu Kuang (47) is Executive Chairman of SOP. A younger son, Datuk Ling Lu Kiong (42) is Group Executive Vice Chairman of SYG. Daughter, Ling Pau Pau (49) heads the finance dept of SYG and is a director in SOP.  

Datuk Ling Lu Kiong graduated with a Bachelor of Marketing from Curtin University of Technology, Malaysia in 2002. He joined the family business in 2003 and has more than 20 years of working together with his father. He is currently also the Group MD of privately held Shin Yang Holding Group Sdn Bhd.
