3rd GEN OF TAN FAMILY WHICH CONTROLS IGB GROUP GROOMED FOR SUCCESSION

Yee Seng is 3rd Gen of the old money Tan family that is behind property Groups IGB Berhad and Tan & Tan Developments Berhad. His grandfather is Dato' Tan Chin Nam. Dato' Tan and his brother, Datuk Tan Kim Yeow started Wah Seong  (Malaya),  a trading firm in 1955 to distribute rice, sugar and Rothmans cigarettes. They subsequently ventured into a housing project in Ipoh (Ipoh Garden) the forerunner of IGB Group. Later Dato' Tan Chin Nam focused on building Tan & Tan Developments (1971) while Datuk Tan Kim Yeow handled IGB. In the decades that followed, the Tan brothers were responsible for many landmark developments in the Klang Valley and overseas in Australia. Datuk Tan Kim Yeow passed away in 1997 and his son, Datuk Seri Robert Tan Chung Meng was called to take over the IGB portfolio, especially the Mid valley project. Datuk Tan Chin Nam retired when he turned 70 to pass the baton to the next Gen. He passed away at the age of 92 in 2018.

The 2nd Gen running the Tan family controlled listed companies comprise Chin Nam's daughter, Tan Lei Cheng (current CM of IGB) and son, Tan Boon Lee (current Group CEO of IGB) and Kim Yeow's son, Datuk Seri Robert Tan (stepped down as Group CEO IGB in Jan 2023) bur remains on the Board. Robert Tan is also Executive CM of IGB Commercial REIT  and CM of Wasco Berhad (formerly Wah Seong Corporation), an integrated energy infrastructure group. After merger and restructuring exercises which started in 2000, Tan & Tan is now the unlisted property arm of IGB Group.

The 3rd Gen are taking up positions in the Group. While Tan Yee Seng heads Tan & Tan Developments as CEO, his sister, Tan Mei Sian is Deputy Group CEO of IGB. Both are Chin Nam's grandchildren. Robert Tan's daughters, Abigail Tan heads St Giles UK, Europe and North America, and Gabrielle Tan is alternate director to Robert in IGB Reit. Robert's nephew, Aaron Tan Jian Hong, son of Tony Tan Choon Keat, is on the Board of Wasco.

There are other 3rd Gen working in key management positions in the IGB group.
