Running an integrated logistics provider which ranks as the top haulage company ( 1573 Prime Movers and 6, 373 trailers) in West Malaysia in terms of 20ft TEUs, and includes tight control over warehousing facilities and depots (10.9 million sq ft) , freight forwarding and 3,562 staff, is no mean task for a young engineer of 34. Loo Yong Hui is Group CEO of Swift Haulage Berhad which was listed on Bursa Malaysia on 21 Dec 2021.

Yong Hui holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, University of Manchester, U.K. He joined Swift Haulage in 2013, a business controlled and managed by his father, Loo Hooi Keat (currently President/CEO and substantial shareholder of Pelikan International). Hooi Keat, a CPA had worked in multi-nationals before he partnered with Mirzan Mahathir in Konsortium Logistik Berhad in the early 1990s. (Read more about him in our Instagram).

Hooi Keat sold off his shares in October 2010 and began to build the Swift Logistics Group with the takeover of Yinson Haulage (renamed Swift Haulage) in 2011. In mid 2016 Shipping company MISC Bhd divested its logistics business to Swift Logistics. Hooi Keat has more than 25 years experience in logistics.

Yong Hui, under the mentorship of his dad, first took charge of the container haulage division for the Central Region in 2013. In 2019, he was appointed the Group ED to oversee container depot, cross-border transportation, and container haulage division for the Central and Northern Region. If you are familiar with Chinese family run businesses, it usually means the father is still having an eagle's eye on his son and the business. Father and son are major shareholders of Swift Haulage with a combined stake of 37.97% via Persada Bina Sdn Bhd which includes a Bumiputera partner, Dato' Haji  Md Yusoff @Mohd Yusoff Bin Jaafar.
