Gan Family makes Takeover Offer for remaining shares in Maxim Global

Builder of The Atas in Taman Desa, Maxim Global Berhad's Gan family led by patriarch Tan Sri Datuk Seri Gan Seong Liam, has bought over the stake of two minority shareholders, Chai Chang Guan (8.08%) and Chai Seong Min (7.46%) and is making a takeover offer for the remaining shares the family does not already own at 24 sen per share. Tan Sri Gan's 2 sons, Jayden Gan Kuok Chyuan (36) and Gan Kuok Wei (33) have substantial stakes in Maxim Global of 10.26% and 10.60% respectively as at 8 April 2026. They acted jointly with Tan Sri Gan in the takeover offer announced on 5 May 2026.
Within the Klang Valley, Maxim Global has scheduled to launch 3 new projects located in Subang Jaya, Taman Desa and Alam Damai. The group expanded its footprint into Johor Bahru in Nov 2025 with the Residensi Maxim Pelangi, a development near the Johor-Singapore Rapid Transit System with an estimated GDV of about RM1.8 billion. For FYE 31 Dec 2025 Maxim Global's revenue of RM443.8 million was derived solely from its Property Development and Construction business. Profit after tax was RM55.6 million.
Tan Sri Gan (69), founder and MD of Maxim Global, holds a First Class Honours in Civil Engineering, University of Manchester, U.K (1979). He worked with the PWD in Negeri Sembilan and KL before venturing into the private sector in 1985. This is one of the family businesses where the sons own direct substantial stakes in the company even though in their 30s. Jayden Gan is Deputy MD of Maxim Global since 2019. He is a graduate of CASS Business School, London with a Master of Science in Banking and International Finance. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting, Financial Management and Economics, University of Sheffield, U.K. His younger brother, Kuok Wei, is ED. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Events Management, University of Greenwich Eltham, U.K. and a Bachelor of Culinary Management from William Angliss Institute, Melbourne, Australia. He also holds a Diploma in Engineering from Liverpool John Moores University, U.K.
