GRANDSON OF ROBERT KUOK CHOSE ALTERNATIVE PATH OUTSIDE KUOK GROUP

Cornell University graduate Kuok Meng Xiong (MX) decided he wanted to start a venture capital firm to invest in startups after working for many years in the Kuok group. He is the son of Kuok Khoon Ean, Robert Kuok's second son. Khoon Ean is Chairman of Kuok (Singapore) Limited and Vice CM of Kerry Group Limited and Kuok Brothers Sdn.Bhd. MX, 3rd Gen of Robert Kuok's family, is on the Board of Kuok Singapore which has multi-billion assets and interests in real estate, maritime, agrisolutions and equity investments in listed companies. 

K3 Ventures (2012) invests in technology-enabled companies in areas such as digital payments, agronomy AI, social media and enterprise software. Its geographical focus is S.E. Asia. Its portfolio includes Grab, ByteDance, TikTok,  airbnb, SpaceX, GoPay, Planet Labs, and more. 

His grandfather, Robert Kuok, built a hugely successful conglomerate based on traditional industries and real estate. But the old world of the 20th Century is facing head on disruption in this new AI era. MX represents a new Kuok generation that hopes to deploy capital into emerging AI based investments and industries.
