K2 STRATEGIC IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST OPERATORS OF DATA CENTRES IN MALAYSIA

Stanford University educated Kuok Meng Wei, 42, is the younger brother of Kuok Meng Xiong (MX). They are Robert Kuok's grandsons. While MX heads a family backed PE firm K3 Ventures, Meng Wei heads K2 Strategic that invests in and builds data centres. He shares the global narrative that demand for computing power and data storage will be exponential in an increasingly AI powered world. K2, a member of the Kuok Group, is currently the 3rd biggest data centre operator in Johor. Prior to heading K2 as MD/CEO, Meng Wei worked with Kerry Logistics, Shangri-la Hotels, Allgreen Properties (leading property developer in Asia), South China Morning Post and was ED of Wilmar Investment Holdings (2011-2014). In 2018 he spearheaded K2 Data Centre  in Ireland. It is now one of 3 largest data centre operators there. Meng Wei is doubling down on K2's expansion plans in S.E.Asia. What of the risk with competition from China building underwater data centres off Hainan?

Meng Wei started Mavrx café Duxton Hill in 2015, a place for mavericks to do things that matter most over a cup of coffee. Reminiscent perhaps of Les Deux Magots in Paris which nurtured the 20th C's greatest artists and thinkers. But he is a Kuok and the legacy must be carried on.
