Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap diversifying Sunsuria into Health & Education

FYE 2023 SUNSURIA'S REVENUE WAS RM506.2 M, PRE-TAX PROFIT RM46.1 M

Tan Sri Datuk Ter Leong Yap's parents were Chinese school teachers in Meru, Klang. He was brought up with Confucian values of filial piety and the integrity of the "junzi" (righteous man) to do things in the right way. He is a graduate of the University of Malaya with a degree in engineering. He founded the Sunsuria Group in 1989 when he ventured into the handling of heavy machinery equipment. 

An entrepreneur at heart, Tan Sri Ter saw the potential in property development in the Klang Valley. He has not looked back since. Sunsuria Berhad developed the 525 acre flagship Sunsuria City in Salak Tinggi, Putrajaya South and the integrated township included the first overseas campus of China's Xiamen University. Xiamen, founded in 1921, was the first university in China founded by an overseas Chinese, Tan Kah Kee.Tan Sri Ter is the Honorary President of China-Asia Economic Development Association and the Executive Chairman of China Federation of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs, amongst his many other leadership positions in society. In December 2023 he was appointed Chairman of MAVCAP -Malaysia Venture Capital Management Bhd. MAVCAP is a leading VC fund manager in Malaysia.

Sunsuria has diversified into the education and healthcare sectors. In Sept 2023 it partnered Icon Group, Australia's largest dedicated cancer care provider to establish Icon Sunsuria which aims to bring advanced treatment closer to home. In Oct 2023 Icon Sunsuria tied up with Island Hospital Penang to set up the Icon Cancer Center (opened on 2 Jan 2024). Sunsuria Education collaborated with Concord International, U.K to set up Concord College and International School for 5-18 Y/O. Location is opposite Xiamen U.
