THE TEES ALSO CONTROL LISTED COMPANIES KERJAYA PROSPEK AND KERJAYA PROPERTY

When Melaka boy, TEE ENG HO was studying for a Diploma in Building Technology at TAR College in the 1980s, he would not have imagined that one day he would control the listed company, Eastern & Oriental Berhad (E&O) which owns the globally renowned Eastern & Oriental Hotel (1885), Penang, other prestigious lifestyle residences & buildings both here and in London, and the first-of-its-kind 760 acre Andaman Island reclamation project (15-20 years to complete). It will be opposite the soon to be completed green lung state project Gurney Wharf (131 acres extended beachfront of Gurney Drive) which is touted as the new pulse of Penang.

E&O changed hands in 2021 when the Tees launched a takeover of the company. As at 30 June 2022, the Tees own 49.12% of E&O. Datuk Seri Terry Tham Ka Hon who has a long history with the heritage hotel (since 1994) still owns 6.41% and the Kumpulan Wang Persaraan owns 6.21%.  

Datuk Tee Eng Ho (57), his wife, Datin Toh Siew Chuon (56), and brother Tee Eng Seng (52), control listed Kerjaya Prospek Group Berhad (KPGB), a construction company which they started in 1995. For FYE 31 December 2022 KPGB reported RM1.122 billion revenue and pre-tax profit of RM148.5million with a standing order book of RM4.3billion.

The Tees also control a third listed company, Kerjaya Prospek Property Berhad (KPP), whose chairperson is Datin Toh. This is the property arm of the Tees. For FYE 31 March 2022 KPP reported RM270.88 million revenue and pre-tax profit of RM96 million. 

Datuk Tee met his wife in TAR college where she was doing accountancy and she later joined him to handle the finances of the Group. Younger brother Eng Seng joined the company after his Form Five education and is now ED of KPGB and E&O while another younger brother Eng Tiong (45) who holds a Master's degree in Engineering (UTM) is the Group CEO of KPGB.
