Sakae Sushi, Singapore franchise brand

Sakae Sushi is a chain of sushi restaurants that belongs to Singapore listed Sakae Holdings Limited. The business was started during the Asian Financial crisis of 1997 by Singapore entrepreneur, Douglas Foo. The Sakae Sushi brand has expanded from Singapore to Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, China, Japan and Chile. 

Sakae Sushi’s affordable and wide range of sushi offerings were first made available to the Singapore public when it opened in OUB Centre in 1997. The company  opened its first outlet in Malaysia at The Curve, Petaling Jaya in 2005. There are currently 11 outlets in Malaysia (www.sakaesushi.com.my) The global pandemic has affected the sushi business everywhere and it is left to be seen how well this chain holds up post covid19 situation.
