HUR FAMILY CONTROLLED SPC GROUP IS A  S.KOREAN GLOBAL FOOD CORP

French inspired S. Korean bakery chain, Paris Baguette, is brought in by listed Berjaya Food Berhad (BFood), the F&B arm of Tan Sri Dato' Seri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun's Berjaya Corporation conglomerate. The first store was opened in Pavillion Shopping Center KL in January 2023.

Paris Baguette is part of the SPC Group of Seoul which is an international food group. It is controlled by the Hur family whose founder, Hur Chang-sung, started a bakery in Ongjin, Hwanghae Province in 1945 and mesmerised Koreans with his special pastry creations. The third generation, Hur Hee-soo and Hur Jin-soo, are now in key positions in the Group which has under its portfolio, Paris Baguette, Baskin Robbins, Dunkin Donuts and Shake Shack, (American burger chain) and other food businesses.

The SPC group is on an aggressive expansion plan in S.E Asia and the Middle East having set up stores in China, USA and Europe (including stores in Paris). They are investing RM130 million to set up the Paris Baguette Halal certified manufacturing and distribution centre in Johor. SPC is also setting up Shake Shack in Msia.
