Berjaya Group Berhad (“BGroup”) founded and controlled by Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun effectively holds the worldwide Kenny Rogers Roasters (KRR) franchise following BGroup’s acquisition of KRR International Corp, USA in April 2008. In Malaysia, Berjaya Roasters (M) Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Berjaya Food Berhad is the master franchisee of KKR restaurants here. KKR was originally set up by popular Country and Western singer, Kenny Rogers, and a former Governor of the state of Kentucky, John Y Brown Jr. In August 1991 KKR opened its first restaurant in Coral Spring, Florida, USA and since then expanded internationally to many countries worldwide. 

As at 30 June 2019, there are a total of 80 KRR restaurants across Malaysia. KRR restaurants feature rotisserie-roasted chicken as their main core product complemented by a variety of hot and cold side dishes and KRR’s famous muffins, vegetable salads, pasta, soups, desserts and beverages served in a friendly and comfortable environment. All KRR restaurants serve their customers in a full service, mid-casual dining setting. 

In mid 2019, Berjaya Roasters opened the first KKR drive-thru store in Juru, Penang. Moving forward the company said that they will open more KKR Express Concept stores in the country.
