The Chuah family (Penang based) headed by Executive Chairman and founder, Chuah Ah Bee (the CAB initials in the company’s name) controls one of Malaysia’s largest integrated poultry farming producers. Its upstream activities which include grand-parent stock and parent stock farming and hatcheries are primarily located in Penang, Kedah and Malacca while the broiler farms are located throughout Malaysia. Chairman Chuah’s wife, Mdm Chan Kim Keow (co-founder), and their three sons, Chris Chuah Hoon Phong (Group Managing Director), Chuah Hoon Teng (Director, Breeding Farm Operations Division) and Chuah Hoon Hong (Director – Southern Poultry Division) are all active in the family founded business.

The Group also owns Farm’s Best poultry breeding business which CAB Cakaran acquired in 2016 from the Fong family which founded Farm’s Best Industries Sdn Bhd. The over 200 acres of farm lands and assets in the southern region gave Cab Cakaran a strong foothold in Johor. The Fong family headed by Datuk Fong Kok Yong, then changed the listed company’s name from Farm’s Best Berhad to Sinmah Capital Berhad after selling all its broiler and breeder farm lands and assets to CAB Cakaran to focus on property development and healthcare.

CAB Cakaran ventured into the fast food franchise business with the acquisition of Kyros Kebab in 2003. Kyros Kebab specialises in Mediterranean style wraps with delicious lamb, chicken and beef fillings and a large dose of fresh lettuce. The chain has more than 10 outlets in the Klang Valley.

In December 2015 CAB Cakaran reached an agreement with the Salim Group of Indonesia, to set up an integrated poultry business in the country. The Salim family headed by its President Director, Anthoni Salim, owns Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk, the largest noodle maker in Indonesia. The Group is also a major F&B conglomerate (dairy, beverages, snack foods, food seasonings and nutrition and special foods) with international operations. The Salim Group’s representative on the Board of CAB Cakaran is Ms Wijanti Tjendera, who leads the Group’s joint venture establishments since 2010. The Salim group is a substantial shareholder in CAB Cakaran with a stake of up to 17.7%.

Cab Cakaran reported a group revenue of RM1.752 billion for the financial year 2019. Profit before tax was RM14.72 million.
